Nambarrie supports Scotswoman of the year 2002

Nambarrie recently raised a cup of tea to Scotswoman of the Year Eileen McKiernan.

Scotswoman of the year 2002

For the past four years Nambarrie has sponsored the Glasgow Evening Times' search for women who have touched the lives of others in an exceptional way and Eileen was chosen for work in founding and supporting the Meningitis Association in Scotland to help Meningitis sufferers and their families. This year was the 40th Anniversary of the Awards.

Brian Davis, our Managing Director, congratulated Eileen on her success at a glitzy ceremony in Glasgow City Chambers, where comedienne Elaine C Smith and Pop Idol Darius were guest speakers.

The £5000 prize will greatly help Eileen's current fundraising programme towards developing a vaccine to help in the fight against meningitis.

Fighting Breast Cancer

Four years ago, Nambarrie Tea Company undertook a sponsorship project in partnership with the N.I. charity, Action Cancer. Sadly, 1 in 12 women in Northern Ireland will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some stage in their life.

A simple PR exercise developed into a fully integrated cause-related marketing campaign, which won both regional and national awards, and is regularly cited as an example of marketing excellence in this field.

Over the last four years, our staff became deeply involved with this project, undertaking many individual fund-raising events, such as football matches, raffles, and pub quizzes. Traditionally, the entire factory closed for a day, when everyone packed pink ribbons (a major source of income for the charity). Over these years, the partnership raised £1 million for Action Cancer, as well as improving the corporate profile of Nambarrie Tea Company Ltd. Most importantly, however, the early detection message is saving lives.

For more information on our work with Action Cancer, please see our press releases section. Alternatively if you would like to visit the Breast Cancer Awareness Web-site, sponsored by Nambarrie, this site is easily accessible from our Links section.

Nambarrie joins in fundriaisng for Maggie's Cancer Care Centre in Glasgow.

Nambarrie recently helped boost The Maggie's Centre Appeal to build a cancer care centre in Glasgow. The network of Maggie's Centres planned for Scotland are designed to provide information, advice and self-help classes for cancer sufferers and their families in a homely, welcoming environment.

Nambarrie are appealing to tea-jennies all over Scotland to have a fund-raising tea party in aid of The Maggie's Centre Appeal. We are providing a free box of teabags to everyone who agrees to raise money for the campaign by having a tea & treats party in aid of Maggie's Centre.

We are delighted to be associated with such a worthwhile campaign and hope that our donation of tea will raise the much-needed funds to make this dream come true, allowing the Maggie's Centre's valuable work to continue in a dedicated environment.
